The Mind Rover features a giant head inspired from Mayan mythology and is nicknamed Huracan, the god of fierce winds. This inspiring work of art is 10 feet tall by 15 feet long, and is made of rebar and pencil rod welded on a stripped-down Toyota Camry, then covered with wire mesh, canvas and epoxy. Inside the head is the Mind's Eye, a radiant light sculpture with a hypnotic strobe pulse. Two small thrones invite participants to reflect in front of the Mind's Eye. The vehicle comfortably holds up to six people.

This moving light sculpture can be seen far across the playa, combining white light illumination for the face and a glowing neon outlining the head. The lighting system consists of a mix of bright halogen lamps mounted on the roof and double-core El Wire tracing key features of the giant head. The electrical system is powered by a deep-cycle battery, fully recharged every day at base camp.

The Mind Rover is presented by The Mind Shaft Society, an anthropological association devoted to the study of consensual hallucination rituals. Distinguished members include Dr. Fabio, Dr. Really, Dr. Matisse, Dr. Rheingold and other media juggernauts.

In previous years, our Burning Man Camp has featured a variety of archeological reconstructions, including Inspiration Island, where you could find inspiration from the legendary Bamboodu tribe, as well as an abandoned Mind Shaft where you could undo your bad ideas. Thousands of people have participated in our interactive rituals, which are commemorated online in publications such as the Book of Inspirations and the Book of Bad Ideas.
